Mediation Poem
I’m 12 and I have a brother
A little sister too
Our world last year became quite sad
Cos Dad found someone new
Sometimes I heard Mum crying
Although it was not loud
Other times our mum and Dad
Shouted and they rowed
My little sister was hit hardest
She loves our Dad and Mummy
She told me that she felt
“All empty in her tummy”
Dad moved out to another house
That put us in a spot
Dad said “Come and visit us”
Mum said “You will not”
Then Dad called Mum one day
He said “Let’s go to mediation
A friend of mine has mentioned it
This morning at the station”
Mum at first was doubtful
But said at least she’d try
But when she put the phone down
I heard her go and cry
They went to mediation
The sessions took a while
But then I saw a difference
For once I saw Mum smile
They sorted out arrangements
Mum was no longer sad
She even said the three of us
Could go and visit Dad
We’d rather they were together
That’s something that we lack
But after mediation
We got both our parents back!
